Privacy Statement
This statement provides information about how we (NIPEC) collect
personal data on our website and how we subsequently use this information.
We are registered as a Data Controller (under the company name of
NIPEC) with the Data Protection Commissioner in the UK (Registration
Entry Z8295312). We are, therefore, bound by the data protection responsibilities
set out in the Data Protection Acts, 1998 and 2003 (for further information

Information collected during registration
During the registration process you are asked to provide the following details (please note that these are essential):
• Name (forename and surname)
• Email address
In addition, you are asked to create a username and password to access
the nipecdf online resources. You also must choose a security question
and provide the answer to that question - this question is used to
identify you in the case where the username or password is forgotten.
Once you have logged into the nipecdf website you are able to complete
your Competence Assessment, keep a record of New Role Audits and maintain
your online Portfolio.
How do we use the collected information?
We use the collected information for the following reasons:
- To provide you with secure access to your online nipecdf resources.
- To provide forgotten login details.
Sharing your personal information
We will not provide your personal information to third party companies, organisations or individuals.
Protecting your personal information
When registering on the www.nipecdf.org website, it is important to
choose a strong password that is difficult to guess.
A good password should
• Combine numbers and letters
• Include punctuation characters e.g. !@;?$£
• Include both upper and lower case letters
• Be at least 6 characters long
• Only used for one system
Common passwords such as the following should be avoided.
• 123
• Password
• Qwerty
• Letmein
As a data controller all appropriate action is taken to protect your
personal information as required including taking regular backups
of all data. In addition, your personal information is only accessed
through a password protected account which is stored on a secure server.
Should you suspect that someone knows your password please email us,
and a new password will be allocated to you.
All communications between your computer and nipecdf are now encrypted
using the HTTPS protocol to enhance the security of the data you transmit.
The hosting company follows best practice guidelines ensuring that
relevant patches are applied to the www.nipecdf.org server in a timely
fashion.
The security of the website is constantly reviewed and improvements
made to ensure that data is transmitted and stored as securely as
possible.
Keeping your personal data
We will keep your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for or as required by law.
Your rights
You have the right to request a copy of the registration information
you have entered and we hold about you and to amend any inaccuracies.
To request your information please email us. Remember you can also
amend or delete all of the details entered by you in each area of
the NIPECDF site at any time.
